About HealthShare

InterSystems HealthShare™ is a comprehensive, innovative health information exchange (HIE) platform that improves the quality, safety, and efficiency of care by enabling the sharing of clinical data across multiple organizations on a regional or national level.

Released in 2006, HealthShare was developed to meet the growing requirement to make large-scale, cross-organizational exchange of clinical information a reality. Adds Value by Dramatically Cutting Costs, Reducing Risks

Early clinical data exchange (CDE) projects typically involved expensive, highly risky one-off solutions that required multiple complex technologies with huge amounts of custom development. Other approaches called for employing packaged solutions that lacked the flexibility, extensibility and support for the variety of standards and deployment architectures that HIEs require.

• Consent—HealthShare provides a comprehensive consent management framework that supports opt-out at system-wide, data provider and data type levels;
• Identification—HealthShare supports the leading Employee Master Patient Index (EMPI) technologies to provide a reliable, patient-centric view of data;
• Exchange—The HealthShare Exchange service manages dynamic bi-directional data flow and extracts, transforms, exchanges and aggregates clinical data shared across the HIE;
• Terminology—HealthShare supports all major encoding standards as well as optionally supporting on-the-fly mapping between these different standards;
• Security—HealthShare encrypts all data at rest using AES and 256-bit keys. All data in motion is encrypted using SSL/TSL and HealthShare records all accesses to the EMPI and clinical systems in tamper resistant logs and authenticates users via a variety of standards.
• Access—HealthShare includes a fully integrated, browser-based and patient-centric clinical data viewer to ensure easy, secure access from the outset of the HIE implementation.
