Any exams that were purchased on Questionmark before May 6th may be taken on Questionmark until May 26, 2024. After May 26, 2024, all exams must be taken on the Certiverse platform. Please follow the instructions below to learn about taking InterSystems exams on Certiverse. To be successful in taking an InterSystems certification exam, there are some facts to know about the exam process.
Preparing for the Exam
Candidates should carefully read the Exam Details on the relevant exam page to understand the scope of the exam content. Under Exam Details, you will also find resources to prepare, including classroom materials, online learning content, and practice questions. Additionally, InterSystems product documentation and Developer Community posts can assist you in preparing for the exam.
Exam Access
InterSystems Certification Program exams are only available via self-service purchase at the InterSystems exam store on Certiverse.com. To schedule an InterSystems exam, candidates need an InterSystems account. Certiverse uses Safe Exam Browser to deliver exams in a secure testing environment. This needs to be downloaded and installed on the candidate's machine before their scheduled exam. Candidates are required to use a computer that conforms to the requirements of these providers to enable connectivity.
Exams must be taken in a secured place using a computer with a webcam, microphone, speakers and a fast, stable internet connection (at least 10 mb/s download and 5 mb/s upload speed).
For more information and to verify compatibility:
- Check the Minimum System Requirements needed to take a live-proctored exam using the Certiverse Platform.
- Download Safe Exam Browser. This will require administrator rights on the candidate's machine.
- Review Certiverse's guide on taking a scheduled live exam to understand what to expect.
InterSystems Certification exam content is currently only offered in English. Additionally, system confirmation emails and exam descriptions are currently in English only.
If you require a specific accommodation to take an exam, please contact certification@intersystems.com.
Scheduling and Buying the Exam
Before buying an exam, ensure you have a compatible system as described above in the Exam Access section.
- Navigate to the InterSystems exam store on Certiverse.

- The candidate confirms their appointment.
- Candidates may cancel or reschedule their appointment without penalty as long as the action is taken at least 24 hours in advance of their appointment.
Please contact certification@intersystems.com if you have any questions or need assistance.
Right Before the Exam
A few best practices can help candidates right before the exam:
- Be in a well-lit, quiet, private room, that has a clear desk space.
- Have a government-issued ID ready to show the proctor. The name on the ID must match the name in the Certiverse account.
- Finish any other tasks before the exam.
- Close all non-allowed messaging and communication software to allow the Safe Exam Browser to launch without problems.
- Connect to the system and click “Start Exam” for the exam at least ten minutes before the start time. Please wait for the proctor to initiate contact.
Online Proctoring
During an online proctored exam, the proctor will lead the candidate through the process and observe them during the exam. The proctor will first provide two services:
- Identification - the candidate must show a government-issued ID with photo (driving licence, passport, or national identity card) for identify verification
- Room Securing - the proctor will ask the candidate to move the webcam around the room to see that there are no disallowed resources
Once identify is verified and the room is secured, the proctor will release the exam to the candidate. When the candidate has submitted their exam, the proctor will close the session.
Please note that the proctors’ task is to ensure exam security and as such will not ask any oral questions as part of the exam nor are they able to answer questions about exam content.
Note: Online proctors speak English only.
After the Exam
Exam results can be viewed by navigating to “My Exams” in the exam dashboard, then navigating to "History". If the candidate passes the exam, they will receive an email notification with a link to claim their certification badge. Clicking the link will start the badge creation process. Please see the
Certification Badges page for more information. For an unsuccessful attempt, candidates can request Exam Retake Support as described on the
Exam Policies page.
