Alert: Possible Database Degradation

January 22, 2020 – Alert: Possible Database Degradation

InterSystems has corrected a defect that can cause database degradation in extremely rare circumstances. Associated problems may include, but are not limited to, incorrect or missing application data and system hangs.

This defect affects:

  • All versions of InterSystems IRIS and IRIS for Health
  • Caché/Ensemble versions beginning with 2016.1.0
  • All HealthShare products based on the above Data Platforms versions

There is no way to determine specifically if an individual system has been affected, so the remediation below is recommended for all systems.

Additionally, if a system experiences a <FILEFULL> error, then it is slightly more likely that the system has encountered the defect (though the risk is still extremely low).

To remediate this defect, InterSystems recommends that you:

  • Apply the correction (JO3151) for this defect
  • Run an integrity check on all databases

Information about integrity checks can be found in the “ Verifying Structural Integrity” section of the Data Integrity Guide. If the integrity check shows any errors, contact the Worldwide Response Center (WRC) to determine the best way to proceed.

The correction (JO3151) will be included in all future releases and is available as an Ad hoc distribution from the Worldwide Response Center (WRC).

If you have any questions regarding this alert, please contact the Worldwide Response Center.
