EMC Healthcare digitises medical records and processes across eight Indonesian hospitals, sends all required data to SATUSEHAT
JAKARTA, Indonesia & Singapore, November 18, 2024 –
InterSystems, a creative data technology provider dedicated to helping customers solve the most critical scalability, interoperability and speed problems, today announced that
EMC Healthcare, a subsidiary of EMTEK Group, has deployed the
InterSystems TrakCare® unified healthcare information system across eight hospitals, with seven hospitals deploying the system within 18 months of the first hospital deployment.
EMC Healthcare has implemented a single, centralized electronic medical record (EMR) system across EMC: Alam Sutera Hospital, EMC Tangerang Hospital, Grha Kedoya Hospital, EMC Pulomas Hospital, EMC Sentul Hospital, EMC Cikarang Hospital, EMC Pekayon Hospital and EMC Cibitung Hospital. This digital investment aims to deliver world-class patient outcomes and care experience while enhancing operational efficiency and productivity.
With TrakCare, patient medical records are instantly and securely accessible by authorized clinicians. As a result, there is less potential for errors or delays with admission, laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, clinical and surgical departments all on the same system. Allergies and medications are recorded, and clinicians have access to clinical decision support, such as alerts about potential medication prescribing errors. Patient and drug identification using barcodes reduces errors.
TrakCare’s interoperability strengths have enabled EMC to integrate the healthcare information system with its other systems for more seamless care delivery and operational management. For example, the automatic recording of a patient’s vital signs with integration of that data into the EMR system enhances patient safety.
EMC Healthcare acknowledges the importance of complying with government regulations related to interoperability of healthcare data beyond their organization. TrakCare ensures compliance with the Indonesian government’s mandate for healthcare facilities to adopt EMRs and integrate with the Health Ministry’s SATUSEHAT (One Health) platform. InterSystems has supported EMC Healthcare in sending all required data to SATUSEHAT using the HL7® FHIR® health data sharing standard.
This digital transformation is also providing a better patient experience. “EMC Healthcare now delivers a fully digitalised patient journey,” said Wildan Djohany, Director of IT at EMC Healthcare. For example, hospital visitors can make appointments via WhatsApp integrated with the TrakCare EMR, he said. They can see individual doctors’ availability and receive a barcode to scan in and register on arrival. They can receive WhatsApp notifications for appointment reminders to decrease no-shows and for pharmacy completion to decrease wait times.
With fully digital services, patients not only experience convenience, but also help EMC Healthcare in creating more efficient processes across the hospitals. The private hospital group also expects efficiency gains as standardised processes are digitally supported across the enterprise. “TrakCare enables standard and more efficient processes,” said Mr Djohany. “Our clinicians already have a new mindset. They understand how they can simplify processes by making them digital, and the patient information they record is more structured, consistent and readily accessible.”
EMC Healthcare has developed a mobile app which leverages the TrakCare API to give patients access to EMR information, such as test results, in addition to appointments and registration. EMC will continue to develop its mobile app to put more services at patients’ fingertips, including, for example, the ability to call an ambulance and track its location and expected arrival time.
EMC Healthcare’s hospitals are also now undergoing Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation, with three already completed. JCI is the recognized global leader in health care accreditation providing an objective assessment of quality achievement and patient care and safety. JCI works with high-achieving healthcare organisations globally to help them keep up to date with new standards and offer guidance on the continuous expectation of performance improvement. InterSystems has been accredited by HIMSS to operate as a Digital Health Technology Partner (DHTPP). In this function, is helping EMC to achieve EMRAM accreditation for their Grha Kedoya Hospital.
“Since partnering with EMC Healthcare, we have been impressed with their adoption and innovation in using digital technology,” said Luciano Brustia, Regional Managing Director Asia Pacific for InterSystems. “The speed with which we were able to go live with each of the hospitals was world-class and supports EMC Healthcare’s rapid growth. We have seen strong commitment from the executive level down to the staff on the wards and an outstanding ability to work with InterSystems as one team.”
